Summary
The Pathway to Independence course provides students with the opportunity to access a fun and varied curriculum, tailored to meet their individual needs. The course aims to develop core communication, confidence and independence skills so that students can progress to the next step towards adult life. The course provides high levels of support throughout the timetable which is reviewed regularly as the students become more independent. The curriculum is designed on students' interests and individual target setting allow learners to understand how they are progressing.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements however most applicants for the Inclusive learning Department will have an Educational health and Care Plan
Learning Outcomes
Course content includes:
Health and independence skills,
Social and communication skills
Maths and English - tailored to suit individual levels
Access to vocational areas - pitched at a suitable level - linked to progression,
Assessment
There is no formal assessment other than in maths and English where appropriate. However progress is tracked throughout the year, with comprehensive and regular assessments through observations, assessment of written work and progress against individual targets.

Progression options available (dependent on individual suitability) - Personal Social Pathway, Rural Enterprise or external community provision
