Summary

This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in the animal care and management sector. During the 2-year programme, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of animal care and management occupations including Zookeeper, Animal care worker, Assistance dog trainer, Dog handler and Animal technician. The course includes as a minimum, working with an employer on an industry placement.

Entry Requirements

  • 5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above, to include English, maths and science.
  • Completion of a taster day

Learning Outcomes

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • employment rights and responsibilities and progression opportunities within the sector

Objective

In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content.
The specialisms available in the Animal Care and Management T Level are:

  • animal management and behaviour
  • animal management and science

Assessment

Assessment is varied and will include externally set exams, course work and employer set projects.

Fees

This course is designed for students aged 16-18 and no fee is payable if the student meets the age and residency criteria.
