Summary
This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in the animal care and management sector. During the 2-year programme, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of animal care and management occupations including Zookeeper, Animal care worker, Assistance dog trainer, Dog handler and Animal technician. The course includes as a minimum, working with an employer on an industry placement.

Entry Requirements
- 5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above, to include English, maths and science.
- Completion of a taster day
Learning Outcomes
Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:
- sustainability, including environmental legislation, sustainable development, climate change and waste management principles the principles of biosecurity
- employment rights and responsibilities and progression opportunities within the sector
- ethical principles
- the supply chain and principles of stock management

Objective
In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content.
The specialisms available in the Animal Care and Management T Level are:
- animal management and behaviour
- animal management and science
Assessment
Assessment is varied and will include externally set exams, course work and employer set projects.
Fees
This course is designed for students aged 16-18 and no fee is payable if the student meets the age and residency criteria.
