What are courses about? 

You will develop your understanding of arboriculture and forestry, growing a mixture of technical skills and practical experience. This will provide you with the skills for your future career in arboriculture and urban forestry, and woodland management. 

What will I do as part of the courses? 

These hands-on tree care courses will see you studying, cultivating and managing trees, shrubs and vines. You will learn about the essentials of safe working with equipment and machinery, chainsaw use, planting and establishment of trees, soil and plant science, pests and diseases. 

Your arboriculture training will take place in our 245-hectare campus estate and you will also learn in urban settings.  

Our courses are designed to provide you with a wide range of specialist technical skills and detailed knowledge and understanding.  This will enable you to seek a diverse range of employment opportunities within the industry. 

Progression 

You can go on to an Advanced Apprenticeship in trees and timber. You can also progress to studying a Degree & Higher Education course in arboriculture, forestry and woodland management or woodland conservation management. 

Courses offer routes into a wide range of careers in forestry and arboriculture industries. This includes an arborist for national parks and gardens, woodland manager, forestry team member and tree nursery worker.
