What You Will Study

Join us for a creative and hands-on two-day basket weaving course set in the beautiful grounds of Easton College this summer. Perfect for beginners or those looking to refresh their skills, this course offers an immersive introduction to traditional basketry techniques using natural materials.

Day 1:
The course begins with an introduction to the essential tools and materials used in basket making. You'll then learn to create a round storage basket or deep tray, working through key techniques including pairing, staking up, 3 rod wale, and finishing with a track border. This day lays a strong foundation in the core skills of basket weaving.

Day 2:
Building on the skills learned in Day 1, you’ll create a larger round basket complete with a handle. This session introduces additional techniques such as English randing, rod borders, and handle binding, allowing you to further refine your craft and leave with a functional and beautifully handmade basket.

What to Bring:
Please bring a sharp knife and secateurs. All other tools and materials will be provided.

Whether you're looking to learn a new craft, develop a new hobby, or simply enjoy a creative summer experience, this course is a rewarding and enjoyable way to explore the art of basketry.

The course will run 09:00-16:00 each day (8th, 9th July), with a lunch break.
