What You Will Study
This course is for individuals who climb trees as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry or other industries. It will provide the individual with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to climb trees and perform aerial rescue safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation. It covers the following;
- Risk Assessment
- Emergency Planning
- Legislation
- Industry Best Practice
- Environmental Considerations
- Tree Condition and Working at Height Assessments
- Equipment and Systems
- Tree Climbing
- Aerial Rescue by Climbing Suitability
- Rescue Plan and Implementation
The aerial rescues includes recovery of both conscious and unconscious casualties. When carrying out aerial rescue you must maintain high standards of health and safety at all times for both yourself and the people you will come into contact with.
This course runs for 5 days over a 2 week period.
2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 11th November 2023.
Entry Requirements
You need to be aged aged 18 and over to attend this course
How You Will Be Assessed
The assessment is carried out on a separate day by NPTC and will include the following;
- One to one practical assessment with oral questioning
Course Progression
On successful completion of this qualification you could go on to NPTC 0039-23 Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness (CS39) as long as you have also completed and achieved NPTC 0039-20 (CS30) Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting
