What You Will Study

Throughout this introductory course, you will have the valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience under the guidance of an expert tutor who brings both professional knowledge and a passion for gardening. Your tutor will work closely with you to help you understand how to effectively plan, manage, and care for a garden space, whether it's a small backyard plot or a larger community garden. You'll explore essential gardening techniques, learn how to identify and care for various plants, and develop an understanding of sustainable practices that promote healthy, thriving green spaces.

By the end of the course, you will not only have improved your confidence and practical skills, but you will also be well-prepared to take the next step in your gardening journey. Successful completion of this course will equip you with the foundational knowledge and experience needed to progress to the Maintenance Gardener course, where you will deepen your learning further. Alternatively, you may choose to apply your new skills by seeking a voluntary placement in a garden setting, gaining real-world experience while contributing to a meaningful cause.

This is a one-day-a-week course, held on Wednesdays at our Easton College site.

On completion of the course you will have achieved Level 1 Award in Horticulture - City & Guilds of London Institute Reference: 60335956
