Moving from home is a big deal at any age, the foundations of our networks and friendly team will ensure you settle in quickly and comfortably. Just a few minutes walk from the classroom, field or farm you will be best placed to live and learn to the best of your potential while staying with us.
We're officially 'Good'!
We are proud that during our inspection from Ofsted in June 2021, Easton College was rated Good for the experiences and progress of our students in residential accommodation. The overall rating of Good highlights the fact that our students in residential accommodation get real benefits from living on campus. The report said:
Young people are positive about their experiences at this college. They feel that the staff care about them and know them well. Young people said that they are well looked after and that the staff understand them and know their interests. Young people have a sense of pride about being a residential student."
You can find out more here or visit the Ofsted website to read the report.
Accommodation for Further Education students is spilt across three blocks; Hudson with 40 rooms, Alston with 40 rooms and Rayns with 20 rooms of single study bedrooms, with shared toilet/bathroom facilities.
Accommodation for Higher Education students is based in Bradley Hall with 20 rooms of single study en-suite bedrooms on a self-catering basis.
Easton College provides residence for students with barriers such as travel to and from campus or individual needs requiring them to live on campus. All students are accommodated across the three blocks depending on age and gender, with under 18 students living in separate accommodation to over 18 residents.
Applications for halls of residence is a separate application found through the college website and students who have received an offer of study for their course are not guaranteed a place in halls of residence. A £200 room damage deposit is paid on completion of application, however this does not guarantee accommodation.
Easton College is not linked with any local accommodation facilities and does not promote any facilities off campus. Students who rent locally do so under their own research purposes and are not controlled or look after by Easton College.
Allocation
Easton College allocates living accommodation to students on a postcode basis - with students who live the furthest distance away given priority over students who live within a 15-mile radius of the college. While we accept applications from students studying on all course levels, priority is given to students studying on a Level 2 or Level 3 course whose needs meet the criteria to enable safe semi-independent living on Easton Campus.
Terms and Conditions of Applications (in no particular order):
- Room priority is for students who are enrolled on or meet the criteria of a Level 2 or Level 3 course.
- Not living on a direct bus route
- Returning residential students
- Students are classed as under 18 if their 18th birthday falls during the academic year after the first move-in day during the first weekend of September
- Admission is based on applicants' individual support needs.
- Students aged 16-18 are given priority
- Students found to give false information on their application will have the application removed and deposit fully refunded.
Students who decide to live on campus and turn 18 years old after the initial move-in date, will be looked after as an under 18 for the entirety of the academic year. This means students will follow the policies and procedures set out for students under the age of 18.
The college, where possible, will make reasonable adjustments and take measures to meet the needs of the students. The college cannot guarantee that the facilities available will effectively support those with significant medical needs or other specific requirements.
Finance
We can help with some residential costs depending on your circumstances.
The residential bursary fund is for 16 to 18-year-olds who are studying on full time land-based courses and helps towards the cost of your on-site accommodation.
The land based course must not available locally to your home and/or you must be required to attend at unsociable hours on a regular basis.
Where possible, we aim to cover up to 100% of the residential costs for students whose gross household income is below £30,000. In exceptional circumstances we may be able to offer some help to households whose earnings are below £35,000. The fund is limited and is allocated on a first served basis, so we advise you to apply as soon as possible.
Residential Access Funding
This is only available in exceptional cases to support students who are 19 or over studying a further education course. You need to live away from home because you cannot access your chosen course/specialist provision locally, or you need to access specialist provision which involves a residential element. You will need to be on a government-funded or advanced learner loan funded course.
Help towards the cost of rented accommodation may be available for students who live more than reasonable daily travelling distance from their campus. We define this as having a return journey of over three hours travelling time or living over 40 miles away. Please apply via our online bursary application and include details of your request in the text box at the end of the form.
Help available: Up to £4,000 per year or pro rata where students qualify for the bursary (students with an income of under £22,000 pa if single or under £30,000 pa if you have a partner).
Extra support may also be available towards travel, equipment and free meals.
